About the artist

I have been interested in art and photography since I was young. Whilst I was growing up I spent most of my spare time in the school art room. After leaving school I studied for a Degree in art at Norwich School of Art and Design. During those four years, I experimented with many different genres, techniques, and mediums, such as photography, printmaking, animation, painting and design. When I left University I focused on painting, printmaking and photography, mastering my own techniques and style.

Photography

My first love of photography was taking black and white photographs using a Pentax SLR, developing by hand in a dark room. Though reluctant to move to digital, I soon enjoyed the benefits and advantages of the new technology.

Printmaking

I love the processes involved with linoprinting. I use a reduction process where you cut into the lino for each colour you wish to print. This has the effect of limiting number of prints to the amount printed on the first colour. This is a time consuming and manually intensive (printed using a wooden spoon) technique that results in a small number of unique prints.

Painting

I enjoy both acrylic and watercolour mediums with their very different results. The vibrant and textural finish attracts me to acrylics. Water has a very different effect allowing the creation of paintings with subtlety and fluidity.
